Printing guide

Everything you need to get a clean page out of an ordinary home printer.

The two-second version

Open the PDF, choose Actual size rather than Fit to Page, set it to single sided, and print. That is it.

Which file should I use?

Every printable purchase includes two PDFs. The square file matches the paperback exactly. The US Letter file is sized for standard 8.5 by 11 inch printer paper, which is what most people have at home. If you are in a country that uses A4, print the US Letter file and set your printer to Fit to Page; the margins are generous enough that nothing important is lost.

Why Actual size and not Fit to Page?

Fit to Page shrinks the drawing slightly and can soften the lines. Actual size keeps the outlines crisp and keeps the page dimensions honest.

What paper works best?

Ordinary copy paper is perfectly good for crayons and coloured pencils. If your child reaches for felt-tips every time, something heavier will stop the ink bleeding through. Around 24lb or 90gsm is plenty. You do not need card.

Colour or black and white?

Set your printer to black and white or greyscale. The pages contain no colour, so printing in colour just uses your colour cartridges to lay down black.

Printing for a classroom

A single-classroom licence is included with every printable purchase at no extra cost. Print one per child, as many times as the term requires.
